Your guide to another busy year
The latest issue of the Norfolk Professional Institutes’ Event Guide will be landing on desks shortly - evidence that not all today’s communication is through Twitter, Facebook, Linked In or the like.
This is the 11th edition of the booklet which continues to be a wide-ranging directory of events across the area in the year ahead. For the first time it also includes a handy calendar guide. The focus goes beyond seminars, workshops, guest speakers and advice groups. There are also fun events arranged by member groups and a host of opportunities for getting to know colleagues not just from the financial services sector but the wider professional world.
Ultimately, the aim is to encourage professional development and a broader understanding of the many elements of financial services along with closer links between individuals in the professional institutes locally. There are also more joint occasions between institutes, often open to all comers and many free.
Event topics range from online threats, advice on how to pitch for finance and the significance of social networking through to vital dates like the Student Convention. And credit goes to the volunteer team, under Chairman David Woodcock, which dedicates so much time to bringing it all together so effectively.
Fig has supported the booklet since its inception, with Director Marjorie Eade a member of the organising group from the start. “We believe the guide is a vital part of our year, helping bring people together, keeping them up to date and encouraging communication and understanding between the professional financial institutes,” she said.
