MARSH DONATES OVER £9,000 TO SECURE NEW MINIBUS FOR NORWICH DOOR TO DOOR
Earlier this year members of staff from the Norwich office of Marsh, the world’s leading insurance broker and risk adviser, presented local charity, Norwich Door to Door, with a cheque for £9,170, following their Christmas Charity Car Park initiative.
Each year Marsh opens its car park to the public for shopping in the run-up to Christmas, with all fees collected being donated to a local charity. Norwich Door to Door was chosen by Marsh staff as the beneficiary for their fundraising efforts.
Norwich Door to Door is a specialist transport solution charity. Their objective is to enable social inclusion for severely disabled children, disabled adults and older mobility-impaired people who are on a low income and find they are unable to use mainstream transport or the volunteer car schemes.
Project Director Jill Gaul said: “It was a thrill and a privilege to be chosen as the Marsh Christmas Charity last year. With this most generous donation we have been able to complete our fundraising needs for a new minibus to complement our transport service for our community.”
The donation from Marsh not only provided the final sum of the £34,000 required to buy a specially modified minibus but also enabled the charity to make their purchase months earlier than the usual 18 months to two years of fundraising it takes to secure capital funding. When they took delivery of their new minibus regular passengers Elliot Chandler, his mum Lisa and brother Martin, along with Jill Gaul and the volunteer driving team of David Miller and John Daniels, visited Marsh to show off the latest addition to their fleet to proud Marsh staff.
Alan Cross, Chairman of the Marsh Norwich Sports & Social club, said: “We are delighted that Norwich Door to Door brought their new minibus to us on its inaugural journey. Dedicated Marsh staff (and very often their partners and families) give their time voluntarily to make the Charity Car Park the success it is and it's incredibly rewarding to know that our fundraising has helped to further develop this vital and life changing service.”
