East Anglia’s potential attracts Discovery market research agency
Market research agency Discovery has set up a regional office in Norfolk to target the financial services industry in the Norwich area
The London-based consultancy was established in 1995 but has now launched Discovery East because it wants to work more closely with businesses in the region.
The satellite office will be headed by Matt Dobbin who has more than 15 years experience as a researcher, working in London on national and international brands and projects.
Now he has returned to live and work in Norfolk and can see a huge potential for business in the region and for market research to be a key component supporting growth in East Anglia.
The launch follows the financial crisis and recession when it was expected that many financial service providers would be tightening their belts and spending less and less on activities such as market research.
But Discovery's experience has been the opposite. The company has never been busier and is seeing a real increase in clients wanting to be sure exactly what their customers want and expect. Many clients are looking for ways of cutting costs and improving efficiency and, as a result, putting the customer at the heart of what they are doing.
The company conducts research with all kinds of people, from school age to OAP, from those at risk of debt spiral to high net worth consumers. The nature of its work tends to be more strategic and problem solving, either helping clients identify opportunities within the financial sector, or developing new products and marketing strategies.
Gathering of data is just one element of Discovery's research process. It spends as much time again analysing and interpreting that data to understand specifically what it means for clients and in the context of the wider market.
Since its inception, Discovery has specialised in all aspects of financial services research working alongside a range of organisations which include HMRC, HM Treasury, the FSA, HBoS, RBS, HSBC, NatWest, Norwich and Peterborough Building Society, One Account, Direct Line, Virgin Money and GE Money.
