New Appointments, ACCA
New appointments have been made by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Norwich Members’ Network for the coming year 2010/2011.
Emma Killerby has been elected as President for 2010/2011 and has also taken on the role of Public Relations for the Network.
Emma obtained a BSc in Accountancy and Finance in 2002 and studied for her ACCA exams whilst working in practice, working within most areas including accounts, audit, taxation and VAT, and general business advisory services. She moved into industry in November 2007 and now works as the Group Project Accountant for Anglian Home Improvements, one of the largest UPVC companies in the UK, which is based in Norwich.
Emma joined the Panel in June 2007, as she is keen to promote the ACCA and is proud to be a member. Her aim as President is to encourage membership of the local Network and to help promote the need for affiliates and students to gain and convert to full membership and the benefits they can gain from becoming a member of a global organisation.
Lesley Penniket is the newly-appointed Vice-President of the Norwich Members Panel of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Lesley has a diverse background, commencing with a degree in Agriculture leading to a first career in scientific research. This was followed by 23 years with one of East Anglia's leading accountancy firms, where Lesley qualified in accountancy, specialising in audit, and gained the Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing, playing a key role in developing the firm's marketing function.
Over the last two years, Lesley has used her extensive experience to set up her own successful marketing and business advisory consultancy, Complete Marketing Solutions, working with small and medium-sized enterprises looking for strategic and operational marketing assistance. Lesley also draws on her professional financial and scientific skills to offer a prudent and results-based service that is increasingly important in these times of economic uncertainty.
On being appointed Lesley stated: “I am delighted and honoured to take on this role and to support our new President, Emma Killerby. The ACCA, as an international and national body, has clearly demonstrated its leadership on many financial issues and champions the role of accounting professionals. The Norwich Panel enables its local members to network and offers local professional development courses to assist members play an increasingly important role within their business and work towards the economic benefit of region” she said. “I shall be looking for all opportunities to use my experience for the benefit of the Norwich Panel alongside my own clients.”
Awards
Emma Killerby was pleased to present the gold award on behalf of ACCA UK, as the President of the Norwich Members Network, to Cara Miller who has achieved the gold medal for the recent examinations at the professional stage, which is an incredible achievement and Cara has now finished all her exams.
Cara studied for her exams after passing her tax exams and whilst being the Audit Manager at Baker Tilly in Bury St Edmunds, where she has worked for 11 years.


Emma went on to say that the ACCA had a special award to go to one of the Norwich Panel Members.
“The award is for her dedication and hard work to the Norwich Members Network Panel. She has worked hard on supporting the events and the Professional Institute booklet and she is well respected member of the panel.
“The award is for the most contribution to a regional network.
“Congratulations Sarah Carter and thank you for all of your hard work”.
